Shooting Schedule (8/2 - 8/14)

Jul 31st 6:28 pm — Bjorn

First let me tell you about the shoot last night, some of you have seen the daily’s and know that they are awesome! The woods really lit up when we lit all those arrows on fire (very epic) thanks a lot to those who came!

Our next event is on Tuesday the 2nd. For everyone with scenes this week (check your schedules), we are having a rehearsal at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island at 7:00pm. That’s right, the time has changed! This is because we would have only about an hour of daylight if we started at 7:30pm. We are meeting at the Outdoor Stage located at the North End of the Park (if you still need directions call me). We are going through all of the scenes on the schedule this week.

The shoot on Wednesday has been rescheduled.

The weekend shoot will begin on Saturday morning at 4:30am. We are meeting at the Issaquah Park n Ride at 4:30am (take exit 15 on I-90 eastbound, take a right and go through two stop lights, the park n ride is on your left). We will then travel to the Cascades and shoot scenes 6,7,8. Bring a pack, with water, a sandwich, and YOUR COSTUME! I’m hoping we’ll finish shooting those scenes by noon at which time we will hike back down the mountain (about 45min) and continue on up to Snoqualmie pass to the lodge where we will spend the night. Please bring sleeping bag, toiletries, etc, everything you’ll need overnight.

Sunday we’re going to shoot scenes 12,13,14,31,44,50,27, so we’re getting up early again. We’re shooting a lot of village scenes so if you know someone who wants to come, men, women, etc. we can use them as scared village people. We’ll try to have everyone home at a decent time but no promises.

Tuesday the 9th we’re shooting scenes 21, 32, 49. Good guys, this is you.

Wednesday the 10th we’re shooting scenes 35,36. Bad guys, this is you.

Thursday the 11th we’re shooting a large tent scene, if we have the people we’re going to shoot scene 30, Good guys, you again.

Saturday the 13th we are shooting scene 34 we’re going to need everyone up early again. This is also an ambush scene.

Sunday the 14th we are shooting pick up scenes, things we haven’t gotten done.

That’s it for now, same thing, if you have any questions let me know.

Flaming Arrows

Jul 31st 12:45 pm — Gabe

Last evening was the first “official” cast and crew gathering that I went to. Bjorn held the event at his place in Issaquah, had a little BBQ and got to meet some of the other folks that will be involved in the movie. I’d met a handful of them before, but there were plenty of new faces in the crowd. There are a number of people that know what they are doing, which I’m sure will reduce the stress on Bjorn and Jody over the course of filming.

After the BBQ, everyone got into costume and we headed down the road to a clearing to film a scene. This time around, I got to play a bad guy. Since I had a small speaking part as a good guy a couple of weeks before and ended up being killed by the bad guys I was now playing, I had to “disguise” myself a bit. I got all the same gear as the rest of the bad guys, except I got a leather helmet that did a great job of obscuring my face. The scene was shot at night, so you’ll probably have to look pretty hard to pick me out.

The pinacle of the evening came when we got to film the flaming arrow scene. In other movies where flaming arrows are used, it looks pretty bad ass. It’s ten times better when you’re involved. Looking down the line as all the other arrows were being lit was quite a sight. We reviewed the footage after getting back to the house, and all I can say is “wow.” And it will look even better once it gets tweaked.
