Finishing Up in February

Jan 31st 1:12 am — Bjorn

Hi Everyone! Ok, so it has been a while since I’ve written, we’ve been in kind of a holding pattern the last couple of months while Jody has edited furiously. We’re about 80% done with the rough cut and we should be done with the rough cut around February 11th. From there we’ll identify which shots need to be “picked up”. On the weekend of February 18th and 19th we’ll work with the characters on some of the smaller scenes that need to be tweaked. Then, the next weekend on February 25th and 26th we’ll shoot some of the bigger pickup scenes. If you’d like to be a part of this just send me an e-mail. Then, Jody will throw those in and we’ll have a picture lock by the beginning of March. Then in March we will begin the work on the sound. Our composer Rebecca Wolf-Nail, is working on the score with the band “Wandering Hands“. I’m really excited about the music, we’ve been playing some temp tracks with the rough cut and it is coming together nicely. Regarding getting into the Seattle International Film Festival, our application form is due on the 1st of Feb. We’re hoping that, though we only have an 80% rough cut of a movie they’ll see the possibilities of the film and allow us in. Since the Festival is in mid-May we’ll definitely be done by then. So that’s it for now, I hope you’re all as excited in seeing this movie as I am! I really can’t wait till it’s done.

January Movie Update

Jan 27th 5:36 pm — Gabe

News has been pretty slow recently on the movie front (how many times can you post “still editing the movie…”?), so here’s a brief update. Jody has completed a very rough cut of the film and is plugging away on the rest of the editing process. From what I’ve seen it’s looking pretty good. Bjorn has seen the latest cut, and according to him, “the bare bones so far looks like something special!” So far the movie is about 1hr 11 min, but it’ll probably end up around 1 hr 45 min to two hours once we finish up.

We’re planning on shooting some pickups during February, if you’re interested in helping out at all, send Bjorn an email. Most of the stuff should be pretty easy and quick, nothing quite like the final battle weekend. Once all the pickups are completed, Jody can work his magic and get the movie completely finalized. Then it’s on to all the audio pieces, music and voiceovers. We’re still shooting for the premiere at the 2006 Seattle International Film Festival, hopefully we’ll get some word on that soon.

Thanks to Brad Wiggins, there are some new photos from the final battle weekend, starting on page six. It was kind of nice to see some more pictures from the weekend come through my inbox, brought back some good memories.
